Rooted in Christ

Seasoned Musician

Well Studied

My Testimony

I began intentionally pursuing the Lord in high school. I spent time reading the Bible at night before bed, and sometimes into the early morning hours, hungering for His Word.  This continued for years until I found myself in college at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri.

At CMU my faith went from being just a religion to an intimate relationship in pursuit of the Lord.  I began a two year discipleship program through the mentorship and guidance of an older student through The Navigators ministry— an international Christian ministry with the mission “to know Christ and to make Christ known.”   This discipleship program taught me the fundamentals of Christianity and how to be more intentional with my prayer life, devotionals, Bible studies, and evangelization. It was during this time that I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.  I began to walk in true relationship with the Lord.  As a result of my growing faith I worked a summer as a Christian camp counselor, led Bible studies, began leading worship, was involved in a women’s group that focused on what the Christian life looks like after college, met the man that would become my husband, and served on an international mission trip for two months in South Korea where I taught music and English to people in the community and evangelized to college students.

Looking back in hindsight, it is easy for me to see God’s sovereign hand in everything.  His kind and gentle patience is what allowed me to continue relentlessly in my pursuit of Him.  I am not of this world, and neither is anyone I encounter, as we all have an eternal destination.  Our hope is in Him.

My Experience

Cayla Corkill is a passionate worship leader, driven to foster a world of faith, harmony, and fellowship through the art of music.

Corkill, formerly Carr, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri.  A member of the CMU Chorale, Conservatory Singers, Chapel Band, Opera Workshop, National Association for Music Educators, Students of National Association for Teachers of Singing, and Kappa Delta Pi, Corkill has performed on tour across Missouri and the United States as an active student and musician while pursuing her degree.  She studied voice with Dr. Laura Wiebe, and has worked closely under the direction and mentorship of Missouri Music Educators Association members Mrs. Jana Fox, Mr. Warner Bailey, and Dr. Claude Westfall.

During her time at Central, Corkill became involved with The Navigators, an international Christian ministry with the vision “To Know Christ and to Make Him Known.”  It was here she felt the call and desire to minister to others through music.

During 2019, Corkill was employed by Saint George Catholic Parish in Linn, Missouri, serving both the school and church as full time music director. She since left that position and works part time as a coffee barista and has become a licensed foster parent. Corkill is a worship leader at Walk In Faith Church in Ashland, Missouri.
